Drugs in the streets of Torn City

Like all major cities, Torn City has a large underground economy, where illegal objects pass hands, such as stolen goods, counterfeit money and... drugs.

Below, you will find a table that lists all drugs and their (known) benefits and disadvantages. But first, a brief introduction and the Medical Surgeon General are given.

How to get drugs

Drugs can be purchased on every corner of the street, as long as you know where to look.

Dealers: A number of players have taken up the profession of drugrunners, importing drugs from abroad and then selling them directly. If you know one of these, you have a direct line to the factories.

Import: The other towns (see How to.. travel) all have their unique set of items you can purchase. Drugs are a significant part of this set. If you are lvl 15 or higher, you can travel abroad and pick up the goods yourself.

Item market/Auction house:If you keep your eyes open, you may run into some decent prized drugs here.

IRC: Drugs are often offered in #Tradingpost. Therefore, getting on IRC and joining #tradingpost might be a good idea.

Surgeon General's Warning

The use of drugs causes damage to your health and to your social contacts. Known side-effects are long hospitalizations, loss of battlestats, loss of your friends and enemies, mood swings, coordination problems, career disadvantages, andmore.

A more elaborate list of possible side effects:

Battlestat loss:: It is known that certain drugs temporarily reduce the effectiveness of battlestats. However, drugs also have been reported to have longterm side-effects. Making you weaker than your stats may indicate.
Long hospitalizations:: If you OD (Over Dose), you may find yourself in the hospital for 5000 minutes or more. This is a significant risk
Loss of your friends:: A number of Torn City marriages have already ended because one partner (who was clean) got fed up with continuously having to pay for the drugs and rehab the other partner (an addict) uses.
Also, it is known that overdosing may cause you to lose your entire friendslist.
Loss of your enemies:: Overdosing may result in the deletion of your blacklist. This means your entire list of known enemies is lost. They are still out there, but if you do not remember their ID, and they change their name, you cannot hit them anymore.
Mood swings: Sometimes, you may use drugs of a lesser quality than usual. In this case you will get a headache and get sick, causing you to lose about 1/3 of your happiness. Also, this drug does not work.
Coordination problems: Severe addicts will suffer from coordination problems, which is especially hazardous when trying to visit the gym. Many drug-users have already walked through the glass door, disabling them to use the Torn City gym.
Career disadvantages: 1. Being a druguser may cause you being thrown out of your education. This is especially unpleasant when you are nearing the end of a very long and expensive training. You will have to start it again.
2. The use of drugs appears to negatively affect your crime-skills.

	Item	Drug	Cannabis	price varies	Overdose leads to 300-330 minutes hospital treatment, loss of energy and nerve.
The Cannabis is a/an Drug Item - Said to improve ones Concentration and Happiness. Experienced users in TC report only low effects, sometimes an increase of 2 nerve points. Aftereffects last about 60-90 minutes. It has been reported that Cannabis gives you faster Energy regeneration during it's effective time as well, making it regenerate like with a donator pack.

The Extacy is a/an Drug Item - Improves ones Happiness and Awareness. Effect last 10 minutes. When on XTC, your happiness is double, resulting in an estimated 25% extra stat increase when using the gym (percentage is higher when in a house lower than palace). It also improves your chances of finding items in the city. Aftereffects last between 200 and 230 minutes. OD results in loss of happiness.

The Ketamine is a/an Drug Item - Raises ones Defence temporarily, resulting in lower Speed and Dexterity Effect last 10 minutes. Aftereffects are reported to last for an hour. This drug is not very often used in Torn City, so if you have any more info, please report it to Wollongong [12833]

The Shrooms is a/an Drug Item - Said to increase ones Happiness at the cost of some Energy. The effect lasts for approximately 5-10 minutes, making it only usefull if you want to try a risky crime. After effects last between three and four hours.

The Opium is a/an Drug Item - Said to relieve a large amount of pain. It is said that when you use this drug when hospitalized, you will be out immediately, making this drug equivalent to a revive.

The PCP is a/an Drug Item - Momentarily improves ones Strength and Dexterity
	Item	Drug	Vicodin	price varies	--
The Vicodin is a/an Drug Item - Decreases the Energy one needs to fight someone for a temporary time. Attacking will only cost 25 energy (normal: 50 energy) for about an hour. Aftereffects last for 220-360 minutes. Also said to temporarily reduce your battle-stats.
