Factions A faction is perhaps the most important asset to have in Torn City, be it as a leader or as a member. Your basic faction consists of 5 members, upgraded with a factionforum for free and 100 respect. The members join in a small shack, plotting their evil plans of criminal acts. However, as you proceed and earn money, you can use money or points to upgrade your faction by buying larger rooms (meaning more members can join), an armoury or a medical armoury.
Factions can work on organized crimes. Each Organized Crime (called OC in Torn City) requires a number of participants who are experienced enough to make the crime work. Every Organized Crime that succeeds earns you money (from $10,000 to amounts up to $750,000 or more) and respect (from 2 to ...). But, do not think to lightly about factions, as there is another way to "earn" money and respect: by warring. Many factions use wars as their main way of income and respect. Every time a member of a faction is hospitalized by someone warring them, a little bit of respect is transferred from the losing to the winning faction. When a chain is performed, this transferring of respect may go quite fast. A faction which has zero respect is destroyed, making the members lose all their investments. Surrenderfee's are quite high. So... it is not an easy task to run a faction. Factionwars and chaining Wars in Torn City are a deadly thing, one well organized attack can leave dozens of players in the hospital for a long time (approximately 300 minutes) and gain the attacking faction a large sum of respect. Every attack in a chain earns your faction respect, but the longer the chain, the more respect you get for one extra attack. Normally, you will start chaining and get about +1 respect per three attacks (estimate), but once the chain grows, you can get +1 respect per attack, or even more. How to chain A chain is a series of attacks, all done within 5 minutes from one another. Every next attack must be performed by someone other than the one prior.
Example: A 3 man faction is attacking. The members are A, B, and C. The following sequence is a perfect chain: A, B, C, A, B, C, A, B, C as is: A, B, A, C, A, B, C, B, C As you can see... none of the members does two attacks in a row. The following, however, is not an entire chain: A, B, C, A, B, B, A, C The Chain was broken as soon as B attacked twice. However. If the attack of A was done within 5 minutes from the first of B's two attacks, the chain was restored. So, chaining is simple: the interval between attacks can be 5 minutes at maximum, and nobody should attack twice in a row.
