Adapted from an old forumpost written by an unknown TC player What is Levelling? Torn City has several ways of showing who are the best players. You have a game rank, a player level, your total stats, how rich you are, and how many crimes you have done. The one most people look at is your level. This is determined by a hidden 'expirience bar' which adds up all the little things you do in Torn City. For instance: some player got to level 16 without attacking one person, and didn't train much strength.
When you have enough experience you will get a message on your home page, and the [upgrade] link will appear next to your current level on the menu. Levelling can give you many things, access to new places and missions, more hit points, higher stake betting in the casino, more job points per day and the ability to take out loans. Once you reach level 3+ you can: - Work for a player owned company
Once you reach level 5+ you get: - The Mission option found in the city page under "Red-Light district"
- Access to the investment bank, located on the west side.
- The ability to use the "Auction house", which can be found on the north side of the City
Once you reach level 7+ you can: - Do the RR mission and obtain the SW revolver, so you can play RR
Once you reach level 10+ you can: - Own your own company.
- Take out a loan from the Loan Shark Named Tim (starting loan you can take out is $100,000. This is also found under "Red-Light district". You can use 100 points to increase the maximum loan with another $100,000).
Once you reach level 13+ you can: Once you reach level 15 you can travel to the other cities, such as El Cascado in Mexico, or Hilo in Hawaii. click here for more info about travelling. At the casino, your level determines how much you can bet per game. The higher your bet, the higher your possible profits (or losses). What can you do to level? If you've read all our other tutorials you should know how most things work. Failing a crime will reduce your total crime experience by a percentage, meaning you have to do alot more crime before you can succeed at the next level of crime. Training/attack experience doesn't affect your ability during the fight. Attacking gives a lot more experience than training, but training benefits you in the long run (You never lose attacking stats). Harder crimes often give more experience, which is why you get more jail time for them. Beware as you are able to do higher crimes, that some which give more cash give LESS experience. If your having a hard time moving to the next crime level, drop back one... it might be less cash but you make up for it when you eventually get to the crime you always fail on. When attacking you get alot more experience from beating up higher level users. But if you havent trained enough you'll find this hard. Some players who have quit don't have weapons equipped, and so don't do as much damage as they should. (Infact fists do 1% of their strength as damage) So look at when people last played and how many people have them on their enemies list (as "known punchbags" are commonly blacklisted by people looking for experience fights). Attacking, Training and Crimes aren't the only things you can do to level. People know that busting players from jail can give you experience. But even small things get you experience. You get experience every day if you have a job, at the end of your education course and even from winning at the casino. Even buying a new house will give you a small amount - basically the more active you are the quicker you will level! Other indicators of how you are doing Your level isn't the only way people know how good you are. Player rank (eg #1 Absolute Beginner) is based upon everything you do. How much cash you've made, how many different things you've done (different crimes, attacks won/lost, stock market) and is often a good way of judging how hard it might be to beat a player. Players with a higher rank are more likely to be active, and so have probably trained alot more of their energy.
