This tutorial is about the torn city forums, not the torncitycomplete forums. The forums are very simple to understand and use, but form a very useful and potentially large part of the game. Most of this tutorial is very self-explanatory, and easy to discover yourself, but it might be useful should you encounter a problem for some reason.

Given description: A secure place for your faction members to talk and arrange operations
This forum won't display in you're not in a faction, and you can't view any other faction forums without actually being in that faction.
Certain faction staff have the ability to place stickies in your faction forum, as well as removing threads and posts. Annoucements
Given Description: Important announcements and issues are posted here by staff.
Staff can post threads and stickies about any aspect of the game here, so it's important to keep checking here. A simple version of Annoucements is displayed when you initially log in.
Ordinary players cannot post new threads in Annoucements, but can reply to threads unless they are locked to replies. The threads are still moderated so unnessesary spam or abuse can still be picked up on, edited out, and the user warned, forum banned or possible federal jailed.
There is a sticky concerning alternative logins and phishing websites. At no time should details be entered to log in to anything other than www.torncity.com. General Discussion

Given Description: For anything your imagination can think up.
Where players can pretend to do things in here, all kinds of different scenarios are featured in Roleplay, both torncity related and non-torncity related. Questions
Given Description: Ask your questions here for answers from staff and other players.
Ask a question, it'll be answered. This is meant for torncity related questions.
There are stickies containing FAQs and other tutorials.

Given Description: Want to discuss a war or looking for a faction? Post here.
There is a fine line between the type of talk about factions in General Discussion and Faction Talk. Try to judge it on the discussion, but if it's about factions it will mostly go here.
If you are buying a faction, selling a faction, looking to join on, or recruiting members for a faction, this is also the place to do it.
There are stickies for you to post in if you are looking to join a faction or buying/selling one. IF you are recruiting, create your own thread, but do not post in the 'Looking for a faction?' sticky. Stock Market
Given Description: Look here for stock tips.
There are groups that post what they are buying and when here, hoping that buying at the same time will increase the stocks worth and their profits. There is often thread(s) in conjuction with the IRC channel #stockmarket.
Also a good place to discuss the stock market in general. Gambling.
Given Description: For all your RR, Racing, and poker needs.
There are stickies for Russian Roulette (RR) players, racers and poker players to look for opponents. There is also a poker FAQ.
Any other kind of gambling can be discussed or pitched, such as sports betting ro just discussing the casino games. Companies
Given Description: Buying or selling your company? Post here. Also, tips for running your company
There are stickies for people buying/selling companies, and also for people looking for a job. If you are looking for workers in the company, then you can create your own thread, but don't post in the 'Looking for work?' sticky.
There is also a thread about inactive and fed jailed directors, so that the dead companies can be removed.
Discussing companies in general is also good. Properties
Given Description: Buying and selling properties or want info about houses? Come here!
There is a sticky for the rental and sharing of properties, ie rental market and marriage.
The rest of the forum can be used for the buying and selling of houses, or other issues or discussions about property. Trading Post
Given Description: Need to buy or sell your stuff? Place your ad here.
This is where most buying and selling of items takes place. If there is a relevant sticky for your item/service, use that. If not, feel free to create your own thread.
This forum is rarely used for discussion of anything, mainly buying and selling.
Try not to create more than one thread about the same thing, instead just post in the thread to bring it back to the top of page one. Many people type 'bump', said to mean Bringing Up My Post, to put their thread back on top. Radio
Given Description: Radio. Tune in to win great prizes and listen to the hottest DJs.
The place to talk about anything related to the torncity radio, be it the DJs or just the music.
There are stickies containing rules, especially about the irc channel #radio, which is often used in conjuction with radio shows. Suggestions
Given Description: Think you have a great idea for Torn City? Post it here!
A place for players to suggest updates or new feature to the game, and other players and staff can comment and read the suggestions.
There is a sticky for new missions, and four other stickies regarding the battle system; initial thoughts, speed/dexterity, strength/defence and other issues.
The more detail put into a suggestion the more likely it is to get a good response.
A few things that have been suggested numerous time and constantly rejected by the admins: Sex, exp/crime exp bar, bank to be able to withdraw and deposit any time you want. Bugs and Issues
Given Description: Post your bugs and problems you have here to be fixed.
Brand new players don't have the ability to use the bug reporter, so they can post problems here. Many people post problems here instead of reporting them, sometimes they are small things or not actually a bug which other players can help them with.
There are also warning stickies about how to post, don't spam and include lots of details. Donator
Given Description: All kinds of general chit chat for donators to Torn City.
This forum will only display if you currently have donator status.
There are lots of forum games, and many long running threads about things that are sometimes as simple as counting. Non-Related
Given Description: Want to talk about things not related to Torn City? Come here.
Talk about anything outside of torn city, as long as it isn't against the rules.
If there is a thread about something you wish to talk about, try to use that instead of creating a whole new thread.
Stickies include 'Real pics' and a thread for new players to post in. Fansites can also post about updates to their sites or other relevant information. Fun & Games

You can make your own competition or participate in some one elses.
There are stickies and often other threads about activities that Body [70242] runs, such as the dollar sale and the Big Brother house.
Signature and other graphical contests often take place, but there really is a huge variety in this forum.
There is also a sticky for people wishing to get married in-game. IRC General
Given Description: Chat about irc channels, get a mirc tutorial, and updates for irc.
There are a number of tutorials about lots of different IRC related issues, and questions can be asked in here as well as #irchelp.
There is a sticky regarding an alternative IRC port and another about official #lobby rules.
Many people also advertise channels here. Game Achievements
Given Description: Did you do something spectacular in Torn City? Bring it here.
This forum is just for people to post something that's an achievement, maybe they're the first to do something, or just a new high crime total. Graveyard
Given Description: Dead, unwanted threads lie here. Enter at your own risk!
Staff will lock and move threads here when they are no longer needed or wanted. This includes out of date stickies, used trading threads or threads that have simply turned into spam, flaming or abuse.
Forum Signatures
You may include a forum signature to automatically display underneath your posts.
You can do this by going to Preferences >> Forum information >> inputting what you want and then clicking 'Change Details'.
Signature:(255chars, html off, BBCode on)
You can also choose whether or not you see other peoples signatures - 'Show Sigs on the Forums (Turning Sigs off impoves your forum load times.)'
Many choose to use this spot to advertise something, or just put other text or images. Forum signature images can be made by yourself or others, you will find many traders in the sticky in trading post.

Glossary
Lock - A thread is locked to replies. Users cannot post in the thread whilst it is locked.
Sticky - A thread that stays at the top of a forum, it will always stay on page one so there is no need to 'bump' this type of thread.
Locked Sticky - A combination of the above. A thread that stays on page 1 but can't be replied to.
Spam - Simply posting smilies, or random letters, i.e. fsgfuiwa is considered spam. Going off topic and posting silly and pointless remarks can also be classed as spam.
Flaming - Insulting another user, often about their views or way they type.
Forum Ban - If you break the rules you will be warned and/or forum banned. You will not be allowed to view or post in the forums as long as you are forum banned.
BBCode
Bulletin Board Code can also be used in the forums. It can also be used in forum signatures.

Abilities
Edit - Allows you to edit your post to change something, if you made a mistake etc. Staff can also edit posts if they are inappropriate.
Report Thread - Allows you to report a thread to staff if it is breaking any rules. This link will be displayed in the first post of a thread.
Report Post - Allows you to report a post to staff if it is breaking any rules. This link will be displayed in all other posts of a thread.
Note: On using the report feature you will be shown the warning message: WARNING: Abuse of this function will result in punishment!
Quote - Allows you to quote another players post and add your own comments. Alternatively you may use the BBCode [quote].
Forum Display
For each forum it will show; forum name, given forum description, number of posts, number of topics and a list of stickies. It will also display the name of the last poster, and this will often have their faction tag in front, if the leader has chosen a tag and if they're in a faction. I have highlighted my faction tag to separate it from my name.
For faction forums it displays the number of topics, number of posts and last poster as N/A.
Search Forum
This feature is only available to donators. You can search the forum for a keyword, or for a player ID. You can also click on the number of posts on their profile to see their last posts.
